Today we’re excited to introduce you to Emma S., a very special young artist we’re very excited to be working with to develop delightful Shareables for your social media feeds.

We asked Emma a few questions about her passion for art, and wanted to share her answers below!

  1. We heard you recently won another award for your art, congratulations! Please tell us a little bit about the project.

This project was for my city! The intent of this contest is to reinforce the benefits of family values and to celebrate the importance of family in our lives. I’ve entered this contest multiple times and won first place twice. This time, I earned second place. Each time I enter, I notice that I grow as an artist and improve as time goes on.

2. We’ve been fortunate enough to watch you grow as an artist over the last few years, we’d love to hear about your creative process.

When I create a work of art, I usually brainstorm and start off with a simple sketch to form a base. I then modify the sketch to figure out my final art piece, then I do my line art. Occasionally, I like to get a snack or take a break and listen to music. I find that when I’m relaxed, I can think more creatively.

3. Do you have a favorite artist, or are there any other artists (or sources) you look to for influence?

I don’t really have a favorite artist that I aspire to be like. But I have been a fan of Edvard Munch and Claude Monet. I appreciate their different art styles and especially Claude Monet’s landscapes. I find their work to be very calming and meaningful. Something I hope my art can make someone else feel in the future.

4. When you’re not creating art, how do you spend your time?

When I’m not creating art, I like to watch a show or sometimes write a book. Becoming an author isn’t my passion, but I enjoy putting all of my creative ideas out on a Google Doc. I usually watch Bob’s Burgers or The Office nowadays, but I’ve always enjoyed wholesome cartoons!

5. Okay, we like to end these interviews with something fun, so please tell us two facts about yourself that are true and one that is made up so our readers can try and guess which is made up!

  1. I’ve swum with sharks
  2. I broke my brother’s finger
  3. I’ve been to a concert before

Make sure to keep opening your Daily ListReport email to see more of Emma’s featured work in the upcoming weeks. Don’t forget to leave a comment telling us which of Emma’s facts you think is made up!
